On March 13, 2020, Canada announced that it would increase the processing fee by the end of April 2020 for foreign nationals who would like to become permanent residents.
- Economic business class (Quebec investor class, the Quebec entrepreneur class, the start-up business class, the self-employed persons class or the Quebec self-employed persons class):
- The application fees for the principal applicants will increase from C$1,050 to C$1,575;
- Fees for spouses or common-law partners will go up from C$550 to C$825;
- Fees for dependent children will go up from C$150 to C$225;
- Economic non-business class:
- Principal applicants' fees will go up from C$550 to C$825.
- Fees for spouses or common-law partners from C$550 to C$825;
- Fees for dependent children will go up from C$150 to C$225;
- The right of permanent resident fee will increase from C$490 to C$500.
- Caregivers program: No increase was made to application fees for the principal applicants and their families.
